Bookmark Cleaner privacy

Applies to Free High Quality Bookmark Cleaner 1.0.0. Effective September 20, 2026.

Bookmark management happens in your browser. The developer does not collect your library. Optional link checks contact only the websites you choose to check.

Bookmarks and folders

After you choose Get started, the extension uses the bookmarks permission to read your bookmark titles, addresses, folder names, and organization. It uses those details locally to find exact duplicate addresses and empty folders, show your library, and preview changes. It does not read your browsing history or webpage content.

Deleting, moving, renaming, creating folders, and importing a backup require you to preview and confirm the operation. Imported bookmarks are placed in a new folder without replacing your existing bookmarks. Duplicate detection preserves differences in query parameters, fragments, and HTTP versus HTTPS.

Local storage and undo

The storage permission saves your first-use choice and the latest undo record in this browser profile's local extension storage. The undo record can contain bookmark titles, addresses, folder names, and previous locations needed to reverse an operation. A later operation can replace the previous undo record.

You can download or clear the undo record. Uninstalling the extension removes its local storage, but does not remove bookmarks or downloaded files. The extension does not add browser sync or a developer-operated backup service. Your browser's own bookmark sync may synchronize bookmark changes independently, according to your browser settings and its provider's policies.

Optional website checks

Link checking is off until you select bookmarks, acknowledge the network notice, and start a check. The browser asks for permission to contact the selected website origins. The extension sends HEAD requests without credentials or cookies; it does not sign in or follow redirects. These requests necessarily reveal the requested address and ordinary connection information to the destination website. That website may keep its own server logs.

Redirects, authentication requirements, blocked requests, and network failures may produce unknown results. A check cannot guarantee that a page is available or unavailable to every visitor. It never automatically deletes a bookmark.

Check results are shown in the workspace. The extension does not run scheduled checks or send your library to us. You can stop a check and revoke website access. Revoking access removes the extension's optional website permissions.

Backup files and imports

A downloaded backup or undo record can include private bookmark addresses, titles, and folder names. Files remain wherever you save them until you delete them. Review them before sharing. Import reads only the backup file you select and processes it locally; it is not uploaded.

No collection, sale, or tracking

The developer receives no bookmark library, changes, undo records, or check results. There are no accounts, advertisements, analytics, trackers, or remote executable code. Every feature is free. Browser API data is used only for the functions disclosed here, consistent with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and its Limited Use requirements. No user data is sold, used for advertising, or used for lending or credit decisions.

Optional links and support

Project, support, review, and donation links open only when you choose them. These are ordinary website visits governed by those sites' policies; your bookmarks and extension data are not attached. See the website privacy policy.

You may email tokens@betterextensions.org. The email service processes your message, and the recipient can read what you send. Messages are used to respond to your request. Please avoid sending private bookmark libraries, account details, or other confidential information. Material changes to this policy will be included with an extension update.
