BETTER EXTENSIONS

Your screenshots stay yours.

This extension is free, with no account, advertising, tracking, analytics, or data collection by Better Extensions. There is no remote executable code.

What happens on your device

After you choose Get started and request a capture, the extension uses temporary access to the active tab to capture its visible pixels. Full-page capture temporarily scrolls the page and hides repeated fixed or sticky elements, then restores them and your scroll position. Page content may be sensitive; capture only what you intend to save.

Screenshots are temporarily stored in the extension’s local browser database so the editor can open them. They stay on this device. You can delete them with Discard capture or Clear temporary captures. Temporary originals older than 24 hours are removed the next time you capture or open the editor. They are not removed while the browser is closed. Edits and undo history live in the editor’s memory and disappear when it closes. Downloaded files remain wherever your browser saves them.

Your first-use acknowledgement is stored locally. Nothing uses browser sync. The extension does not send screenshots, page content, browsing activity, or settings to Better Extensions or any other server.

Redaction and exported files

Redaction replaces selected pixels with solid black. PNG and PDF exports contain only the flattened edited image, without original layers, page URLs, or page titles. PDF output is image-based rather than searchable text. Undo can restore an edit inside the open editor; discard the capture to remove its temporary original. Check the exported file before sharing it.

Permissions

activeTab grants temporary access only after you invoke the toolbar action. scripting allows full-page capture to scroll and restore that chosen page. storage remembers the welcome acknowledgement and temporary capture progress. There is no persistent access to all websites.

Optional links

The privacy, support, and optional donation websites open only when you follow a link. The destination’s normal network request and website privacy policy then apply. Donations are optional and never unlock features.
