Install a ZIP download
- Download an extension ZIP and extract it into a folder you will keep.
- Open
chrome://extensionsorbrave://extensions. - Enable Developer mode, select Load unpacked, and choose the folder containing
manifest.json. - Pin the extension from the toolbar menu, open it, and read the first-use welcome.

Common questions
How do I update an unpacked extension?
Download the new version, replace the files in the same folder, and select Reload on your browser’s extensions page. Keep the folder in place after installation.
Why can’t I load the ZIP?
Extract the ZIP first. Load unpacked expects a folder with manifest.json directly inside it, not the ZIP or a parent folder.
Where are my saved settings and content?
They belong to the browser profile where you installed the extension. Use its export or download feature to keep a separate copy. Each product’s guide explains what is saved and for how long.
