Color Picker privacy

Colors and palettes stay on your device. The extension has no website access, analytics, account, or upload service.

Screen color selection

Choosing Pick from screen starts the browser's own eyedropper. It returns a color value only after you select a pixel; Escape cancels. The extension does not receive a screenshot, webpage contents, browsing history, or the screen location of the pixel. A typed or manually selected color can be used without the eyedropper.

Local storage

The storage permission keeps palette names, saved color values, and the first-use acknowledgement in local extension storage. The currently chosen color and active palette are held only in the open tool window. The extension does not synchronize this information or send it to Better Extensions. Contrast calculations and color conversions run locally.

Clipboard and files

The Copy buttons write the displayed color format to your clipboard only when selected. The extension does not read your clipboard. Downloading a backup saves palette names and colors in JSON. CSS exports contain color variables. Importing a backup reads the file you choose locally and shows a preview before adding palettes. A temporary preview is held in browser session storage and can be confirmed for ten minutes; choosing another import replaces it. Exported files and copied text remain wherever you save or paste them.

Your controls

Remove colors or delete palettes to remove them from extension storage. Uninstalling clears the extension's local storage; files already downloaded and text already copied are separate. Screen sampling runs only after your explicit action and stops on selection or cancellation.

Developer data use

There are no analytics, advertising identifiers, paid tiers, data sales, or remote code. Browser API data is used only for the color tools described here, consistent with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and its Limited Use requirements. It is not used for advertising, lending, or credit decisions. Optional help, review, and donation links contact their destinations only when you select them.
